In November of 2014 Justin Burr was re-elected, with nearly 63% of the vote, to serve a fourth term in the North Carolina House of Representatives at the age of 29. He currently represents the 67th District, which consists of Stanly & Montgomery Counties. Since taking office in January of 2009 he has distinguished himself as a hard-working representative who stands out as a leader in the legislature, named the 10th most effective conservative in the House in 2010, and served as the House Republican Freshman Leader for the 2009 – 2010 session. He is one of only a handful of Republican members of the General Assembly to preside over the House of Representatives since the late 1800’s. During his four terms in the House, he has served in many key roles in the House majority including- Chairman of the Appropriations Committee, Chairman of the Appropriations Sub-Committee on Health and Human Services, Chairman of the Health Committee, and Chairman the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services; Vice-Chairman of the Rules, Calendar and Operations of the House Committee, the Health and Human Service Policy Committee, Elections Committee, and Finance Committee, and a member of the Insurance, Judiciary, and Government Committees. He was also appointed by the Governor to serve on the North Carolina Early Childhood Advisory Council. Beyond his involvement in state government, Justin is very active in his community. He is an Eagle Scout, has served on the Boy Scouts of America Stanly District Board and currently serves on the Board of the Boy Scouts of America Central North Carolina Council, was the Chairman of the Stanly County Republican Party and currently serves as a member of the Central and Executive Committees of the NC Republican Party, was a member of the Teenage Republicans and now serves as their State advisor. Justin was Chairman of the Stanly County March of Dimes, a member of the Centralina Workforce Development Board representing Stanly County and continues to serve on other local, state and national boards. Justin served as a Washington D.C. Intern for both U.S. Senator Jesse Helms (2002) and U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole (2004). He is a member of West Albemarle Baptist Church, the Stany County Chamber of Commerce, and a Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association. When not working on state business Justin works as a 3rd generation Bail Bondsman in his family’s nearly 60 year old business and is also a real estate broker.
